PRAY FOR JAPAN
POPULATION: Japan's population is over 126 million. Most Japanese reside in densely populated urban areas. Japan's capital city is Tokyo. The population of the Tokyo Metropolitan area including the city, some of its suburbs and the surrounding area is approximately 12 million.
GEOGRAPHY: Japan is situated in northeastern Asia between the North Pacific and the Sea of Japan. The area of Japan is 377,873 square kilometers, nearly equivalent to Germany and Switzerland combined or slightly smaller than California. Japan consists of four major islands, surrounded by more than 4,000 smaller islands.
LANGUAGE: There is only one official language spoken in Japan, which is of course Japanese. However, many Japanese are able to understand English to a certain extent since English is the foreign language that everyone must learn as part of compulsory education.
CHRISTIANITY: “Less than one percent of Japan’s population is Christian even though the religion was brought to the country over 150 years ago.” Buddhism and Shinto are Japan's two major religions.
- Pray for the Japanese Christians who represent only 1/3 of one percent of the population.
- Pray for the 1,700 towns & villages without a single Christian church.
- Pray the hearts of the unsaved will be receptive to the Gospel and they will accept Christ as their Savior.
- Pray that the small, weak church of Japan will shine with God's love as they help those in need around them.
- Pray that the principalities and powers of darkness that are keeping the Japanese people be bound.
